Description

Built in 1919 on a parcel of farm land deeded to Hamlin Plantation by Alenandre St Amand, this one-room school house was available until after World War II.

If there was a need, the school operated; but if no students lived within a mile on either side of the school, then the school did not open.

In Hamlin there were four or five one-room schools. Students in first to eighth grade attended this school with one teacher who taught the three Rs.

This building is now located in Acadian Village, Van Buren, Maine.
